The Cooke

The Cooke
Named after an old friend from the East Coast, the Cooke is just like her namesake - a piece of raw beauty - rough and tumble, passionate and hardy with a little bit of whimsy mixed in.

We decided to go full nautical with this little hutch, with navy paint, white shelves and distressed star knobs. The Cooke is a little rustic - a piece you might have found in an old cottage kitchen or on a sailboat on the water.  She is made of solid pine and instead of hiding her flaws and beauty, we let them show through three coats of navy paint.  The stripes and knots of her wood shine proudly and with wear and tear she will only look better and better!  Inside we coated her shelves with two coats of primer and three coats of white paint, followed by two coats of wax to make her hardy.  We left the inside of her drawers raw and unfinished - a little bit of her old personality waiting to surprise!  Her back was once an old piece of wood, but we exchanged it for crisp white beadboard - the perfect backdrop to whatever you display upon her shelves.

Floridian Knobs
The knobs we used on the Cooke were the jumping off point for her transformation.  Found in a small town in Florida, these little knobs were looking for the perfect piece to accompany.  We jumped when we found the Cooke and knew they were all meant to be together!

This sweet hutch is a little bit old and a little bit new, with little details between, bringing the whole thing together to be perfect in a small cottage kitchen, or even better as a decorative piece in a nursery - with perfect storage for all your little sailor's needs!
