The Amy

The Amy
Sold
The Amy, is a dresser that might look a tad familiar to Sweet Peep customers - she's the big sister of the Annis!

A woman named Amy asked us on Facebook if we had any matching pieces to the Annis and at the time we didn't.  But a few weekends later - on the same day we dropped the Annis off at her new home, the Sweet Peep and I were at our friend Danielle's house, helping with home renovations, when I heard Danielle yelling from the garage.  She was playing I-spy from the mountains of Ikea boxes and noticed her neighbors had just finished up a garage sale and were packing up a few things into their truck to take to the dump.  And lo and behold, a matching piece to the Annis - just bigger.

Distressing
I'm pretty sure the neighbors thought we were crazy - two grown women (one very pregnant!) running across the street, yelling about the dresser.  I may have even said it was a "re-finishers wet dream", in which Danielle smacked me and told me not to embarrass her in front of her new neighbors (sorry Danielle...I'll try and use my filter next time!)  In the long run - we got the Amy in the back of my truck and it was on it's way home with me!
2 hidden drawers

We thought about doing something different with her, but decided, why mess with perfection - the Annis turned out perfect, surely the Amy would too.  So we cleaned her up (she was spider city!) and gave her a good sanding.  After sanding, we noticed she had been very loved and marked up quite a bit.  Usually, we like to leave these scuffs, just to show the history of a piece, but she was a little more worse for wear, so we filled the worst ones and left the others.  Next, we gave her two coats of primer, and three coats of white paint.  We spent the next few days distressing her, until she looked just right - a touch of rustic, a touch of new.

The Amy has 7 drawers (2 small ones hidden by a cupboard door) and a small cupboard.  She'd be perfect in a bedroom or as a entertainment unit in a sweet, rustic family room!

Two nightstands

The Gray
Sold
The Harp
Sold
On occasion we find ourselves with a few odds and ends - in this case, two nightstands/side tables that don't really match any other pieces but might be absolutely perfect in someone's bedroom or living room!

The Gray was an add on with the custom project we did for Tabatha, and we decided to give it the same sort of paint job - with custom colours and a tiny bit of distressing. She has a small hole in her top drawer at the back, her previous owner saying it was a hole for her cell phone charger to go through so she could store her phone overnight.

The Harp actually came from Tabatha, and she's a real beauty.  She reminds us of old fashioned harp chairs with her fine design in the centre of both drawers.  We painted her a simple white and distressed her just enough to let that harp design jump out.

Either piece is yours for $50.00!

The Cass

The Cass
The Cass is another custom piece we've been working on over the past few weeks.  It was scouted out for us by our friend Shawna in Blackfalds.  We couldn't pass this awesome little mid century piece up!

We had another customer, a woman named Tabatha who was interested in the Ombre but decided it was the wrong size - so when Cass showed up in our inbox, with the perfect dimensions, we knew this was the dresser for Tabatha!

We had Tabatha over and she decided she still wanted the Ombre look but with subtle grays - perfect for her 5 year old stepson's room!  We ended up giving this cute little dresser a revamp with 2 coats of primer, a coat of white around it's frame and then a custom mix of grays for each of the drawers.  After a bit of snafu with some local county maps as liners for the drawers, we ended up giving the inside of each drawer 4 coats of white paint to polish them up!  After seeing another project of ours, Tabatha  also decided she wanted a bit of distress job on the entire dresser, so we took parts down to the white base and some parts all the way down to the beautiful aged wood.

What we love about this dresser is that it's not only made for a little boy's room - it can grow into adolescence and teenage-hood with him and venture out of the room when he decides on something else - Tabatha made the perfect colour selections for a timeless and vintage piece!

We hope you and your son love it Tabatha!

Interested in a custom piece?  Shoot us an email to sweetpeepdesignco@yahoo.com with what you're looking for and we'll keep an eye out for it!  It might take a few days, or in some cases, a few months (does ANYONE have a chunky desk?!) but we'll find the perfect piece for you eventually - and we'll do it up right - for a reasonable price!
