Design Dilemma

We got this awesome mid century modern hutch for a song...

It was a case of being at the right place at the right time and we snatched it up.

Here's our dilemma:

 Notice the common theme?

NONE OF THEM ARE PAINTED?

Albeit, this is no Heywood-Wakefield.  It's a Defehr...not quite the same esteem.  So it's not like we'd be ruining a piece of furniture history if we painted it.

 What would you do???

  1. I would do a touch of paint on a small item, like the first one. Maybe just paint the handles.

  2. What about taking the stain a shade or two darker? But my main vote is to swap the handles. Pictures can be deceiving but they are coming across as colonial. Are they originals? Would sleeker pulls pair better with the feet?

  3. What if you painted or stained just the trim/edges black, clean the rest of the piece up a bit and add all new hardware?
